About

Mockingbird was our first baby gear brand  🍼

Mockingbird is a leader in the baby gear world. They’ve been named the Best Full-Size Stroller by WIRED and their 2-in-1 High Chair was named a Best Baby Gift for New Parents by Oprah.

The team is just under 40 employees spread across New York, California, and other states.

Allie Mintz, their VP of People, is dedicated to creating an exceptional employee experience, and we were thrilled to partner with her on this retreat.

The situation

Mockingbird is a distributed team of under 40 employees spread across New York, California, and beyond.

Their annual retreat is a key part of their culture—something employees genuinely look forward to.

But planning hadn’t always been easy. They were looking for a partner to deliver a streamlined and seamless experience.

They also had a set budget and needed to maximize impact without overspending.

Naturally, Allie was a bit nervous about finding a vendor and trusted partner who could truly deliver.

Catbird Hotel in Denver, CO

Allie had clear criteria: the space needed to spark creativity, feel welcoming, and encourage connection.

It also had to be modern, flexible, and filled with natural light—all while staying within budget.

After reviewing several options, we recommended Catbird Hotel in Denver’s RiNo district. It checked all the boxes:

  • Chic, homey design that made the team feel comfortable
  • Multiple flexible spaces for breakout sessions and social time
  • Onsite dining that kept daytime logistics simple

Most importantly: we were able to secure 28% savings on rooms for the Mockingbird team.

“I had such a positive experience with Marco. I’ve used other companies and I knew there had to be a more streamlined way to plan. We’re 100% remote and want to do these annually. So, I was using this as a test to find our partner for future events. I was super impressed with the organization of the team, the roadmap, the budgeting... it was so refreshing to have the system you’ve built.”

A word from our planner Anna:

Working with Allie was a great experience—she had a clear vision for creating a retreat that embodied Mockingbird’s values in every detail.

Having that strong intention from the start made it easy for me as an event planner to build upon, using my expertise to elevate the experience with curated activities, thoughtful scheduling, and meaningful relationship-building opportunities.

We paid close attention to the details, knowing that the little things—from the check-in experience to the ambiance of each dinner space—make a big impact.

A couple of highlights from the trip were:

  1. Red Rocks Park Hike

Two amazing private tour guides led the group through Red Rocks Park in small groups. Including some outdoor time was a huge plus for the retreat

  1. Intentional Dinners

We love a great dinner party - we were able to incorporate assigned seating, curated conversation starters, and thoughtful, personal touches  to have some phenomenal dinner parties

Our ultimate goal was for attendees to leave feeling re-energized about their work and relationships—plus have a few new inside jokes to laugh about on Zoom. And that’s exactly what we achieved!
